Today · Autumn

Your garden has little to do today.

12° · Rain from 3 pm, no need to water

  • Lift the dahlias Due

The first frost is forecast for Thursday, and the tubers cannot take it.

  • Trim the lavender Good timing

Dry until Wednesday, so the cuts heal before winter.

  • Feed the lawn Can wait

The soil is still too warm for autumn fertiliser.

Sound familiar?

Gardening is a joy. Constantly second-guessing is not.

  • Can I still prune the hydrangea now?
  • Do I really need to water in this weather?
  • Is it already too cold outside for the tomatoes?
  • Why did pruning the roses by the calendar not work?
  • What actually matters most in my garden right now?
  • When is the right time to scarify the lawn?

Maluna answers these questions for your garden, not for an average one.

The difference

A garden calendar knows the date. Maluna knows your garden.

A garden calendar gives every plant the same date, regardless of location or weather. Maluna takes into account your garden, the recent weather and the care your plants have already had before suggesting a task. Same rose, same week: change the context and see how the recommendation changes.

Garden calendar

„Prune roses: from March.“

Maluna

Your rose by the house wall

  • young plant
  • south-facing
  • sandy soil
Choose the context:
Can wait: do not prune

For your young rose by the house wall, pruning does not make sense right now: frost is forecast and the sandy spot has no winter protection yet.

Good timing: light shaping cut

Mild, dry days: the cuts dry quickly. The hard prune can wait until spring.

Can wait: let it root first

The rose has been in the ground for two weeks. It needs at least one season before its first prune; watering matters more now.

What to do now

Weather in context

In future, Maluna will connect rain, temperature, frost and heat to your plants, instead of just showing weather readings.

  • Rain decides whether watering is needed
  • Temperature determines when plants grow
  • Frost postpones pruning
  • Heat sets the right moment

Behind Maluna

Born from a simple question.

Why do I have to find out for myself, for every plant, what to do and when?

Maluna grew out of that question, first as a tool for my own garden. Maluna is built in Switzerland, with gardening conditions in Switzerland and its neighbouring countries in mind.
